Melian and Ian, I am enormously impressed with your determination to implement your 5 year plan. Most of us have ideas of implementing this or that but it never comes to anything. And what a plan! to sail round the world; how many people do that? Well, all I can say is that I wish you the very best of luck. I did crew an ancient converted fishing vessel (owned by a Major Moore, member of the Royal Yacht Squadron, no less) with a lot of rotten rigging after being in the Med all summer, from Gibralter to some port in South England, with Autumn very changeable weather all way. I certainly learnt how to sail that boat, mostly very wet! In gales about Force 6. That will not compare with some of the weather you will meet so I wish you luck with some of the storms you must meet, though I am told that Catamarans are more stable on account of their two hulls. But with just two of you, getting sleep will be just in snatches. But all that will be compensated for by all be the interesting, and no doubt exotic places you will visit. Yes, I very much envy you…..and keep us informed!!!

Thanks Uncle Robin. We are very excited albeit a bit apprehensive! Thanks for following our blog and we hope to send lots of posts from some of the less visited parts of the world. We are staying pretty much equatorial so probably wont be heading to Old Blighty but when we hit the Med we will fly over for a visit. Only a few more days to go, running around like headless chickens at the moment sorting out the last few details. Will put up a blog the day before or the day of departure so watch this space. xxx
